Congratulations Shawn! I am sure a lot of thought and prayer went into this decision from both your family and the church. We wish you all the best in your new role and will keep praying for you regularly.

I must admit though, I would have selfishly been a little more excited if God had called you to the east Tennessee area. :-)

Glad I didn't watch the video then. Thanks for the heads up. I can understand his position if he feels he is right and wish more if us would take a stand for our positions (Essentials, Non-essentials, and everything else, Not the only Christians) but it has to be done in love and humility not arrogance.

I like Matt and I appreciate much of what he has to say, but his blog seems so ignorant, proud, and extremely arrogant. He speaks as if a non reformed minister has never opened his Bible or parsed Greek before. While I don't agree with the reformed position, I understand it and can appreciate many who hold it's view, this however does not seem to go both ways. To be honest the video blog made me angry and I felt insulted.

Shawn,

Great thoughts. Thanks for sharing. I think you are right in that we focus to much on our traditions and we can learn from others outside it. The best we can do is pray hard and study hard and know God is going to use that to touch lives. What are some of the best resources you know of to study context?

Good stuff Shawn. I think need to give you a call soon, because it seems like God has us both in a similar place right now. I don't think my last 10 years or so of college and ministry jobs has been a waste, but it sure feels like all of it has been preparing me to find the "sweet spot" of what I was made to do, or maybe more importantly what we as a family were made to do.

I've always been intrigued by how long Jesus prepared before he began his ministry on earth, and wondered what I would be doing when I was 30-33. I'll be 30 in June, and after this weekend, may have a more clear idea of what the immediate future holds.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing more about what God is doing with the Grants.

Wow! #3! I'm honored to even be on the list. I actually started a blog back in December thinking I was going to have all this free time with nothing to do when I lost my job, and have only managed to crank out 2 posts. To know I'd have at least one reader might be the motivation I need.

I had totally forgotten about the corpse game! I was however remembering earlier today how I used to write in nonsense quotes from you in my term papers in college so I could meet my word counts. Alas, Google Desktop has failed to find me an example, but somewhere in the halls of FCC is a term paper about Hermeneutics in which you were quoted as an expert opinion. Good times!

I'll see what I can do about blogging a little more, if you and Erica see what you can do about coming to Dade City with that cute kid of yours. That guy is a stud. Later man!

He's beautiful! I can't wait to meet him. And you guys do whatever it takes to get rest! Even if that means sleeping with him on your chest...just prop pillows around your arms to keep them in place. :) Praying for you as you transition into a family of 3! Love you guys! Tell Erica to call if she needs ANYTHING!!
